The HSP228 is a pair of side panels for Hammond's HME modular freestanding enclosure, made to fit a cabinet 2200 mm high by 800 mm deep (86.61 x 31.50 in). Panel shops, OEM machine builders and electrical contractors use it to close in the sides of a deep 800 mm-deep HME frame, whether building a standalone cabinet or finishing the end of a line-up.
Each panel is a welded steel assembly finished in textured RAL 7035 light gray. On the drawing each panel measures 2153 mm (84.75 in) high by 756 mm (29.77 in) wide with a 21 mm (0.82 in) return. The panels are sold in quantities of two, and the pair has a shipping weight of 114 lbs (51.71 kg), packed in a box.
Installation uses screws that fasten into the enclosure frame through 9 mm (0.34 in) thru holes, with optional tamper resistant screws available. Bond studs (CD stud 1/4-20 x 3/4) are provided for grounding, so the panels can be tied into the enclosure's ground path.
