Hammond HJ643LP 6x4x3 Inch Lift-Off Cover Type 4/12 Junction Box

The HJ643LP is a 6 x 4 x 3 in (152 x 102 x 76 mm) Type 4 and Type 12 mild steel junction box from the HJ Series, fitted with a lift-off cover secured by clamps. This compact size suits splices, instrument connections and small terminal wiring points. It is designed for use as an instrument enclosure, an electric, hydraulic or pneumatic control housing, an electrical junction box or a terminal wiring enclosure, and provides a degree of protection from falling dirt, dust, oil and water.

The body is formed from 16 gauge or 14 gauge steel and the cover from 14 gauge steel. Seams are smooth and continuously welded, with no knockouts, cutouts or holes. The lift-off cover seals against a seamless poured-in-place gasket, is secured with stainless steel clamps and stainless steel screws, and is retained with a stainless steel chain when open, so it stays with the box during service. Cover and enclosure are phosphatized and finished in ANSI 61 gray recoatable powder coating.

Per the drawing, the cover measures 6.31 x 4.31 in, the door opening is 5.30 x 3.30 in and 5.10 x 3.10 in of clear space is available on the door. Welded mounting brackets carry 0.31 in holes spaced 6.75 in vertically and 2.00 in horizontally, for an overall mounted height of 7.50 in. Internal threaded weld studs accept the optional 14R0503 inner panel (4.88 in (124 mm) x 2.88 in (73 mm)); alternative inner panel options are also available. A bonding stud is provided on the door and a grounding stud on the enclosure.

The HJ643LP is listed to UL 508A Type 3R, 4, 12 and 13 (UL file E65324) and CSA Type 3R, 4, 12 and 13 (certificate LR21001), and complies with NEMA Type 3R, 4, 12 and 13 and IEC 60529 IP66. It is REACH and RoHS compliant, and ships in a box with a shipping weight of 2 lbs (0.91 kg).
