Hammond HJ16106HLP 16x10x6 Type 4/12 Hinged Steel Junction Box

The HJ16106HLP is a 16 x 10 x 6 in (406 x 254 x 152 mm) Type 4, 12 mild steel junction box from the HJ H Series, built with a continuous hinge door secured by clamps. It is designed for use as an instrument enclosure, an electric, hydraulic or pneumatic control housing, an electrical junction box or a terminal wiring enclosure, and suits panel builders, electricians and OEM engineers who need a portrait (taller than wide) box rated for wet or outdoor locations.

The body is formed from 16 or 14 gauge steel and the cover from 14 gauge steel, with smooth, continuously welded seams and no knockouts, cutouts or holes. The cover swings on a stainless steel continuous hinge that can be removed by pulling the stainless steel hinge pin, and it closes with stainless steel clamps and screws against a seamless poured-in-place gasket. Cover and enclosure are phosphatized and finished in recoatable smooth ANSI 61 gray powder coating.

The drawing shows a door opening of 9.30 in wide by 15.30 in high and a 10.31 x 16.31 in door, with 9.08 x 15.08 in of clear space available on the door. Overall depth including the door is 6.18 in. At 6 in (152 mm) deep, the HJ16106HLP is one of the 6 in deep sizes in the HJ H Series table, for installations where a shallow wall profile is wanted. Internal threaded weld studs accept the optional 14R1509 mounting panel (14.75 x 8.88 in), and a bonding stud on the door plus a grounding stud in the enclosure simplify grounding.

Welded brackets provide for enclosure mounting, with a 8.00 x 16.75 in bracket hole spacing and 0.31 in mounting holes on the drawing. The series is listed to UL 508A Type 3R, 4, 12 and 13 (UL File E65324) and CSA Type 3R, 4, 12 and 13 (CSA LR21001), complies with NEMA Type 3R, 4, 12 and 13 and IEC 60529 IP66, and the part is RoHS and REACH compliant. It ships boxed at 15 lbs (6.80 kg).
