Hammond HJ14128HLP 14x12x8 Type 4/12 Hinged Steel Junction Box

The HJ14128HLP is a 14 x 12 x 8 in (356 x 305 x 203 mm) Type 4, 12 mild steel junction box from the HJ H Series, built with a continuous hinge door secured by clamps. It is designed for use as an instrument enclosure, an electric, hydraulic or pneumatic control housing, an electrical junction box or a terminal wiring enclosure, and suits panel builders, electricians and OEM engineers who need a portrait (taller than wide) box rated for wet or outdoor locations.

The body is formed from 16 or 14 gauge steel and the cover from 14 gauge steel, with smooth, continuously welded seams and no knockouts, cutouts or holes. The cover swings on a stainless steel continuous hinge that can be removed by pulling the stainless steel hinge pin, and it closes with stainless steel clamps and screws against a seamless poured-in-place gasket. Cover and enclosure are phosphatized and finished in recoatable smooth ANSI 61 gray powder coating.

The drawing shows a door opening of 11.30 in wide by 13.30 in high and a 12.31 x 14.31 in door, with 11.08 x 13.08 in of clear space available on the door. Overall depth including the door is 8.18 in. The 8 in (203 mm) depth of the HJ14128HLP gives more internal depth than the 6 in deep versions of the same height and width in the HJ H Series table. Internal threaded weld studs accept the optional 14R1311 mounting panel (12.75 x 10.88 in), and a bonding stud on the door plus a grounding stud in the enclosure simplify grounding.

Welded brackets provide for enclosure mounting, with a 10.00 x 14.75 in bracket hole spacing and 0.31 in mounting holes on the drawing. The series is listed to UL 508A Type 3R, 4, 12 and 13 (UL File E65324) and CSA Type 3R, 4, 12 and 13 (CSA LR21001), complies with NEMA Type 3R, 4, 12 and 13 and IEC 60529 IP66, and the part is RoHS and REACH compliant. It ships boxed at 18 lbs (8.16 kg).
