Key Features

  • 800:5 current ratio: 800 A primary to 5 A secondary
  • Rated accuracy 0.3 - 1.2% at 5 - 50 VA burden
  • Toroidal design with two hole mounting bracket
  • 24" insulated secondary leads with crimped ring connectors
  • Bare primary conductor OK in circuits up to 600 V (4 KV Hi pot)
  • Overall size A 6.00 in x C 5.25 in, B 1.35 in
  • UL E227616 volume #1, file X0DW2; RoHS and REACH compliant

The CT800A is an 800:5 toroidal current transformer rated 0.3 - 1.2% accuracy over a wide 5 - 50 VA burden range. Sharing the 6.00 in frame with the 600:5 model, it is intended for metering 800 A feeders where longer lead runs or multiple instruments add burden.

Like every model in the series, it uses a toroidal core, a two hole mounting bracket and 24" insulated secondary leads finished with crimped ring connectors. The primary conductor can be bare (uninsulated) in circuits up to 600 V (4 KV Hi pot), or insulated for higher voltages. UL E227616 volume #1, file number X0DW2 applies to the series.

Overall dimensions for the CT800A are A 6.00 in (152 mm), B 1.35 in (34 mm), C 5.25 in (133 mm), D 5.25 in (133 mm), E 3.50 in (89 mm) and F 5.12 in (130 mm), with mounting slots G 0.28 in (7 mm) by H 0.37 in (9 mm). The listed shipping weight is 2 lbs (0.91 kg); the series table gives 2.8 lb. It is RoHS and REACH compliant.

To measure current, pass the wire carrying the current through the CT window so it acts as the primary winding, then connect the secondary to an ammeter with a 5 A movement. As with the rest of the series, the conductor carrying the current is passed through the window as the primary, and the 5 A secondary is connected to the ammeter.

Ideal For

  • Metering 800 A feeders
  • Panel and switchboard ammeter circuits with 5 A movements
  • Indoor current monitoring on circuits up to 600 V

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the current ratio of the CT800A?▾

800:5: a 800 A primary produces a 5 A secondary, for use with standard AC ammeters with 5 A movements.

What accuracy and burden is the CT800A rated for?▾

0.3 - 1.2% accuracy at a 5 - 50 VA burden.

What voltage circuits can it be used on?▾

With a bare (uninsulated) primary conductor it is suitable for circuits up to 600 V (4 KV Hi pot); at higher voltages use a suitably insulated conductor.

How is it wired?▾

Pass the wire carrying the current through the window of the CT, which acts as the primary winding, and connect the 5 A secondary leads to an ammeter with a 5 A movement. The secondary leads are 24" long with crimped ring connectors.

What burden range does the CT800A support?▾

5 - 50 VA, with 0.3 - 1.2% accuracy.
