Hammond CN4ST273 24 in 70A 3-Wire Type 4/3R Steel Splitter Trough

The CN4ST273 is a 24 in long, 70/70 A CU/AL, 3-wire splitter trough from the CN4ST series of Type 4/3R mild steel splitter troughs. It is the shortest 70 A trough in the series, a slim 6 in wide channel that lets electricians tap a 3-wire feed into multiple branch conductors. The series is designed for distribution of up to 600 A (max) service at 600 V max, with 75° C conductor ampacity permitted.

The series table lists the trough at 24.00 x 6.00 x 5.00 in (610 x 152 x 127 mm) H x W x D; the part page gives a nominal size of 24 x 6 x 6 in, and the drawing shows 5.82 in overall depth. Per the part drawing, the door measures 23.97 x 5.97 in over a 22.38 x 4.52 in door opening, the inner panel is 22.17 x 4.17 in, and Ø0.50 in wall mounting holes sit on 22.50 x 4.50 in centres.

The series is formed and spot welded from 16 gauge steel, moving to 14 gauge only when width is 8 in or more, so this 6 in wide trough uses 16 gauge. Seams are smooth, continuously welded and ground smooth; a formed lip and seamless poured-in place gasket exclude flowing liquids and contaminants. Splitter blocks are factory installed (reference CSBL125T). The hinged door has quarter turn slot latches that need a tool, 304 stainless steel hinges and stainless steel pins, and is removable and interchangeable. The enclosure and cover are finished in recoatable smooth ANSI 61 gray powder coating, and the included inner panel is white.

The CN4ST273 is CSA Certified Type 3R, 12, 4 and complies with IEC 60529, IP66. A hardware kit with panel mounting nuts and sealing washers is included, grounding kit CGK225 is optional, and it ships boxed at 19 lbs (8.62 kg). REACH and RoHS compliant.
