The Hammond BE5G is a Class 2 energy limiting transformer from the BA-C-D-E small box mount series, rated 40 VA with a 240 V primary and a 24 V, 1.67 A secondary. It is used by electricians, HVAC and security installers and OEMs in chimes, door bells, security systems, decorative lighting, furnaces, humidifiers, appliances, vending machines and intercom type applications.
The BE5G converts 240 V to 24 V at 1.67 A with a 40 VA rating; the 240 V input lead is red.
The design is rugged, low noise and cool running, for indoor use only. It is 60 Hz and inherently limited, so no fuses or circuit breakers are required. Input (primary) connections are stripped wire leads, and the output (secondary) is a screw terminal / quick fit tab terminal. Input leads are black, and the 240 V lead is red.
Installation is by nipple locknut mount into a box, and the transformer comes complete with locknut and mounting bracket. Overall dimensions are A 2.33 in (59 mm), B 2.60 in (66 mm) and C 1.98 in (50 mm), and the shipping weight is 1.55 lbs (0.70 kg).
The BE5G is UL listed (#E184371) and CSA certified (209651), and is built to a 105 degree temperature design. It is also REACH and RoHS compliant.
