The 298FT is the 1000VA model of the 298 Series; it shares the 750VA unit's case size but steps up to a 10 amp breaker. It plugs into a standard 120VAC, 50/60 Hz North American outlet and supplies 240VAC through an isolated secondary, letting integrators, service technicians and test benches power 240V equipment where only 120V circuits are available.
Inside is a toroidal transformer, used for high isolation, low noise, light weight, cool operation and low profile, and the primary-to-secondary insulation is Hi-Pot tested at 4,000V RMS. The ventilated black steel case carries a rocker lighted on-off switch, and the output is circuit breaker protected; the drawing for the 298FT specifies a 10 amp breaker.
The input is a cord with a standard North American NEMA 5-15P plug, and the output is a North American duplex 3-wire grounded NEMA 6-15R receptacle, giving two outlets. For international pinouts, the 298G adaptor series is available.
