Hammond 266GD12 8.4VA 12V/6V Dual Secondary Power Transformer

The 266GD12 is an 8.4 VA open-style transformer rated 12 V at 0.7 A in series (center-tapped) or 6 V at 1.4 A in parallel, from a dual 117/234 VAC, 50/60 Hz primary. It is a mid-size 12 V or 6 V AC source for chassis-built equipment.

The primary accepts 117 or 234 VAC at 50/60 Hz; the 266 Series connection diagrams show the primaries wired in parallel for 117 VAC and in series for 234 VAC. The secondaries can be used as a center tapped secondary (12V @ 0.7A), parallel connected (6V @ 1.4A) or used individually, and the unit is designed for use with all windings engaged. Every unit is hi-pot tested at 2,000V RMS.

Construction is open style with minimum 6" long leads and a dual bobbin design, so no electrostatic shield is required. Class B insulation (130 °C) is used for extra protection, and the design is UL listed as a Class A (105 °C) design.

It sits between the 4.2 VA 266F12C and the 12 VA 266JA12 among the 12 V / 6 V models.
