Hammond 183J10 30VA 10V Center-Tapped PCB Power Transformer

The 183J10 is a 30VA low voltage power transformer from the 183 Series, designed to mount directly on a printed circuit board. It is aimed at OEM engineers and electronics designers who need a compact on-board source of low AC voltage, with a universal dual primary that runs on 115 or 230 VAC, 50/60 Hz, for worldwide use.

Output is taken from dual secondary windings that are non-concentrically wound and can be wired in series, in parallel or used separately. Wired in series, the 183J10 delivers 10V C.T. @ 3A; with the windings in parallel it delivers 5V @ 6A (RMS). When the secondaries are connected in series (pin 9 connected to pin 10), that connection acts as the center tap.

Construction uses a low profile, split bobbin with top shroud design. Primary to secondary coupling is low, so no electrostatic shield is required, insulation is hipot tested to 4,000V RMS and rated Class F (155 degrees C). The 30VA body measures 2.63 (66.8) long, 2.19 (55.6) wide and 1.56 (39.6) high in inches (mm), with 0.045 (1.1) square pins and a weight of 1.15 lbs. / 0.52 kg.

Mounting is four-hole using #6 screws (mounting screws not provided), and the pins follow industry standard spacing for P.C. board layouts. For 115V operation the primary windings are connected in parallel; for 230V operation they are connected in series. The unit carries cURus, CE and TUV agency listings, the series is cUL listed, and it is RoHS and REACH compliant.
