- cUL listed series; RoHS and REACH compliant
The 183F12 is a 5 VA low voltage power transformer for printed circuit board mounting, built with a dual 115/230 V primary so the same part can be wired for either mains voltage at 50/60 Hz. Its two secondary windings deliver 12.6 V C.T. at 0.4 A when connected in series, or 6.3 V at 0.8 A when paralleled, making it a compact choice for designers who need a 12.6 V / 6.3 V low-voltage rail on the board.
Construction uses a low profile, split bobbin with a top shroud. The dual secondary windings are non-concentrically wound, giving low primary-to-secondary coupling so no electrostatic shield is required, and the transformer is hipot rated at 4,000 V RMS with Class F (155 °C) insulation.
The series mounting table gives the 5 VA size as 1.63 in long, 1.44 in wide and 1.38 in high, with 0.025 in square pins, two-hole mounting for #4 screws (mounting screws not provided) and a weight of 0.37 lbs.
For 115 V operation the two primaries (pins 1-3 and 4-6) are connected in parallel; for 230 V they are connected in series. Joining secondary pin 9 to pin 10 places the windings in series, and that connection acts as the center tap.
The 183 Series is cUL listed; 183F12 is RoHS and REACH compliant.
Ideal For
- Low-voltage 12.6 V C.T. or 6.3 V AC supply on a printed circuit board
- Equipment wired for 115 VAC or 230 VAC mains at 50/60 Hz
- Board-level designs needing two separate secondary windings

Frequently Asked Questions
What output does the 183F12 provide?▾
It is rated 5 VA: 12.6V C.T. @ 0.4A with the secondaries connected in series, or 6.3V @ 0.8A with them connected in parallel. The windings can also be used separately.
Can it run on both 115 V and 230 V?▾
Yes. It has a universal dual primary for 50/60 Hz. Connect the two primary windings in parallel for 115 VAC or in series for 230 VAC.
Where is the center tap?▾
When the secondaries are connected in series by joining pin 9 to pin 10, that connection acts as the C.T. (center tap).
How big is the 183F12?▾
The series mounting table lists the 5 VA size at 1.63 in long, 1.44 in wide and 1.38 in high, with 0.025 in square pins, a #4 mounting screw and a weight of 0.37 lbs.
Are mounting screws included?▾
No. The 5 VA size uses two-hole mounting and the manufacturer states mounting screws are not provided; the specified screw is #4.
What listings and compliance does it have?▾
The 183 Series lists cUL. It is RoHS and REACH compliant.
