Hammond 183E24 2.5VA 24V CT Pcb Mount Power Transformer

The 183E24 is a 2.5 VA low-voltage power transformer for printed circuit board mounting, part of the 183 Series. Its dual secondary provides 24V C.T. @ 0.1A when the windings are wired in series, or 12V @ 0.2A when wired in parallel, and a bulk-pack version is offered as 183E24-BULK. It is aimed at OEM engineers and electronics designers who need a small, board-mounted low-voltage supply.

Universal operation comes from a dual primary rated 115 or 230 VAC at 50/60 Hz, so one board design can serve either line voltage. The dual winding secondaries are non-concentrically wound and can be wired in series, in parallel or used separately; when connected in series (pin 9 to pin 10) that connection acts as the center tap. Low primary-to-secondary coupling means no electrostatic shield is required.

Construction is a low profile split bobbin with a top shroud, with high insulation (Hipot of 4,000V RMS) and Class F insulation rated 155 degrees C. The body measures 1.63 in (41.4 mm) long, 1.44 in (36.6 mm) wide and 1.13 in (28.7 mm) high, with 0.025 in (0.6 mm) square pins at industry standard spacing. At 2.5 VA it uses two-hole mounting with #4 screws, which are not provided.

The 183E24 drawing notes that pin numbers are not marked on the unit; instead, a paint dot always identifies the secondary side (pins 12-7). Primary pins are 1, 3, 4 and 6, wired in parallel for 115V or in series for 230V. The drawing lists agency listings of cURus, CE and TUV, and the part is RoHS and REACH compliant.
