The 182L117 is a 225 VA low-voltage toroidal power transformer from the 182 Series, built for chassis mounting in equipment where a low-profile, lightweight and cool-running transformer is needed. It suits OEM engineers, electronics designers and maintenance teams who need a dual 117/234 VAC primary for 50/60 Hz operation feeding dual secondaries that deliver 234V center-tapped at 0.96 A when wired in series, or 117V at 1.92 A when wired in parallel.
Both the primary and the secondary windings can be connected in series or parallel. Wire the primary in parallel for 117 VAC or in series for 234 VAC; wire the secondaries in series for 234V C.T. (center-tapped) or in parallel for 117V. The units are designed to have all windings engaged, and the flexible leads are a minimum of 8 in long.
The toroid measures 4.97 in (126 mm) in outside diameter and 1.90 in (48 mm) high, with a listed weight of 4.96 lb and a shipping weight of 5 lbs (2.27 kg). It has a potted center for extra mounting strength and mounts through a single center hole using the included 1/4-20 hardware, 2.50 in (64 mm) long, supplied with one bottom rubber insulating pad and mounting hardware.
Each unit is Hi-Pot tested at 4,000 V RMS between primary and secondary. The series is CSA certified to C22.2 #66 (CSA file #209651), UL recognized to UL 506 (UL file #E207860) and CE certified to IEC 950, and this part is listed as RoHS and REACH compliant. Because toroidal transformers can draw a high magnetizing inrush current when first energized, the manufacturer recommends a slow-blow fuse, time-delayed circuit breaker or soft-start circuitry on the supply line.
Availability note: the 182 Series is being discontinued as a stocked series and is available while quantities last; it has been replaced by the 1182 Series, and the manufacturer lists 1182L117 as the replacement for the 182L117.

Frequently Asked Questions
What secondary voltages can the 182L117 deliver?▾
Wired in series, the dual secondaries give 234V C.T. (center-tapped) at 0.96 A; wired in parallel they give 117V at 1.92 A. The rating is 225 VA.
Can it run on both 117 VAC and 234 VAC supplies?▾
The primary is dual 117/234 VAC for 50/60 Hz operation: wire the primary windings in parallel for 117 VAC or in series for 234 VAC.
What mounting hardware is included?▾
It mounts through a single center hole with included 1/4-20 hardware, 2.50 in (64 mm) long, and is supplied with one bottom rubber insulating pad and mounting hardware. The toroid has a potted center.
How big is the 182L117?▾
It measures 4.97 in (126 mm) outside diameter by 1.90 in (48 mm) high and weighs 4.96 lb; the shipping weight is 5 lbs (2.27 kg).
Why might my fuse blow when the transformer is switched on?▾
Toroidal transformers can draw high magnetizing current when first energized, limited only by the primary's low DC resistance, usually for no longer than half a cycle. A slow-blow fuse, time delayed circuit breaker or soft-start circuit is recommended.
Is this part still available?▾
The 182 Series is being discontinued as a stocked series and is available while quantities last. It has been replaced with the 1182 Series; the listed replacement for this part is 1182L117.
