Hammond 182K15 50VA 15V Dual-Secondary Toroidal Transformer

The 182K15 is a 50 VA low-voltage toroidal power transformer from the 182 Series, built for chassis mounting in equipment where a low-profile, lightweight and cool-running transformer is needed. It suits OEM engineers, electronics designers and maintenance teams who need a dual 117/234 VAC primary for 50/60 Hz operation feeding dual secondaries that deliver 30V center-tapped at 1.67 A when wired in series, or 15V at 3.34 A when wired in parallel.

Both the primary and the secondary windings can be connected in series or parallel. Wire the primary in parallel for 117 VAC or in series for 234 VAC; wire the secondaries in series for 30V C.T. (center-tapped) or in parallel for 15V. The units are designed to have all windings engaged, and the flexible leads are a minimum of 8 in long.

The toroid measures 3.63 in (92 mm) in outside diameter and 1.73 in (44 mm) high, with a listed weight of 1.67 lb and a shipping weight of 1.7 lbs (0.77 kg). It has an open center and mounts through a single center hole using the included 10-24 hardware, 2.00 in (51 mm) long, supplied with two rubber insulating pads, one metal centering washer and all mounting hardware.

Each unit is Hi-Pot tested at 4,000 V RMS between primary and secondary. The series is CSA certified to C22.2 #66 (CSA file #209651), UL recognized to UL 506 (UL file #E207860) and CE certified to IEC 950, and this part is listed as RoHS and REACH compliant. Because toroidal transformers can draw a high magnetizing inrush current when first energized, the manufacturer recommends a slow-blow fuse, time-delayed circuit breaker or soft-start circuitry on the supply line.
