Hammond 166F12D 12V 0.35A Transformer, 117V 50/60 Hz Primary

The Hammond 166F12D is a 4.2 VA low-voltage transformer with a 117 V 50/60 Hz primary and a plain (non-center-tapped) 12 VAC secondary rated 0.35 A. Part of the 166 Series of economical single-primary, low-voltage/filament transformers, it is an open-style, chassis-mount design aimed at OEM engineers, electronics designers and repair technicians who need a small, fixed low-voltage AC source inside equipment.

Construction uses a dual bobbin design, so no electrostatic shield is required. Insulation is Class B (130 °C) for extra protection, and the transformer is UL listed as a Class A (105 °C) design. Each unit is Hi-Pot tested at 2,000 V RMS, and the series is UL listed and CSA certified. The 166F12D is also listed as RoHS and REACH compliant.

The 166F12D drawing gives overall dimensions of A 2.38 in / 60.5 mm, B 1.38 in / 35.1 mm and C 1.38 in / 35.1 mm, with a hole-to-hole mounting dimension (D) of 2 in / 50.8 mm and 0.187 in / 4.7 mm mounting holes. Shipping weight is 0.4 lbs (0.18 kg). Mounting is by an open-style channel bracket with two holes for chassis mounting, and the transformer is supplied with minimum 6" long leads.

Unlike the 115 V 60 Hz models that make up most of the 166 Series, this part is rated for a 117V 50/60 Hz primary. The drawing identifies black (BLK) primary leads and green (GRN) secondary leads, with no center-tap lead shown.
