The 1650P is a 60 W push-pull tube output transformer with a 6,600 ohm centre-tapped primary, 200 mA DC per side and 4, 8 and 16 ohm secondaries. Unlike the 1650N at the same power, it is listed for a single push-pull pair (2 tubes), with suggested types 6L6GC, 807, 5881, EL34, 6146B, 6550B and KT88.

Construction follows the classic series design: the transformer is enclosed (shielded), with 4 slot, above chassis Type "X" mounting, plastic coil forms for coil support and insulation, and insulated flexible leads (8 in minimum per the part drawing). Frequency response is 30 Hz to 30 kHz at full rated power, +/- 2 db max (ref. 1 kHz) minimum per the part drawing. Because of the unique interleaving of the windings, both secondary windings must be engaged to meet specifications.

Dimensions from the series table are A 3.13 in (80 mm), B 4.25 in (108 mm), C 3.81 in (97 mm), D 2.50 in (64 mm) and E 2.94 in (75 mm), with 0.20 x 0.38 in mounting slots. Typical electrical data from the drawing includes a primary inductance of 305H / 145KOhm, leakage inductance of 11.8mH, a dielectric strength of 2000Vrms and a temperature range of -40 to 105C. Shipping weight is 8 lbs (3.63 kg).

The 1650P label is marked Made in Canada, and the part is REACH and RoHS compliant. The manufacturer notes that tube operating conditions change the optimum plate-to-plate load, so consult a tube manual or data sheet before choosing an output transformer.

Ideal For

  • Push-pull tube hi-fi amplifiers
  • Guitar amplifier output stages
  • Triode, ultra-linear pentode and tetrode output

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the primary and secondary impedances of the 1650P?▾

The primary is 6,600 ct ohms and the secondary offers 4-8-16 ohm taps.

Which tubes is it suggested for?▾

Suggested tube types are 6L6GC, 807, 5881, EL34, 6146B, 6550B, KT88, in Push-Pull (2 Tubes) operation. The manufacturer advises consulting a tube manual or data sheet first, since operating conditions change the optimum plate-to-plate load.

Do I need to connect both secondary windings?▾

Yes. Due to the unique interleaving of the windings, both secondary windings must be engaged to meet specifications; see the hook-up diagrams.

How is the 1650P mounted?▾

It is enclosed with 4 slot, above chassis Type "X" mounting; the drawing shows Ø0.203 x 0.375 in slots.

What frequency response does the 1650P drawing specify?▾

The part drawing states 30 Hz to 30 kHz at full rated power, +/- 2 dB max (ref. 1 kHz) minimum, while the series sheet states +/- 1 dB.
