The 162D56 is a low voltage, low profile P.C. board mount power transformer from the 162-164 Series, aimed at OEM and circuit board designers who want one part that runs from either 115V or 230V. It is the universal dual primary (115/230V) version, rated 1.1 VA for 50/60 Hz operation; the single 115V primary equivalent is 164D56.
Two 28V secondaries at 20 mA each combine to 56V centre-tapped at .02A in series or 28V at .04A in parallel. The drawing's no-load test lists 38.83V ±2% on each secondary (pins 5-6 and 7-8) at 115V, 60 Hz, and the units are designed so that all windings must be used.
Construction is a low profile, split bobbin design with dual winding secondaries that are non-concentrically wound. Low primary to secondary coupling means no electrostatic shield is required. Insulation is Class B (130 degrees C), and the hipot rating is 2,500V RMS; the drawing specifies the primary-to-secondary hipot test at 2500V, 60Hz for 1 second. Pin numbers are embossed on the bobbin flange.
