Hammond 162D12 1.1VA 12.6V CT Low Profile PCB Transformer, 115/230V

The 162D12 is a low voltage, low profile P.C. board mount power transformer from the 162-164 Series, aimed at OEM and circuit board designers who want one part that runs from either 115V or 230V. It is the universal dual primary (115/230V) version, rated 1.1 VA for 50/60 Hz operation; the single 115V primary equivalent is 164D12.

Its two 6.3V secondaries (88 mA each per the drawing) combine to 12.6V centre-tapped at .09A in series or 6.3V at .18A in parallel. The drawing's no-load test lists 8.495V ±2% on each secondary (pins 5-6 and 7-8) at 115V, 60 Hz, and the units are designed so that all windings must be used.

Construction is a low profile, split bobbin design with dual winding secondaries that are non-concentrically wound. Low primary to secondary coupling means no electrostatic shield is required. Insulation is Class B (130 degrees C), and the hipot rating is 2,500V RMS; the drawing specifies the primary-to-secondary hipot test at 2500V, 60Hz for 1 second. Pin numbers are embossed on the bobbin flange.

Per the part drawing the body measures 0.930" high, with L 1.375" and W 1.125". The 1.1 VA size needs no mounting hardware and uses industry standard pin spacing for P.C. board mounting. The series is c UL us recognized, the part is RoHS and REACH compliant, and it ships at 0.14 lbs (0.06 kg).
