Hammond 1596B111-10 30 mm Square Black ABS Potting Box, 10-Pack

The 1596B111-10 is a ten-pack of small black plastic potting boxes, each measuring 1.18 in x 1.18 in x 0.79 in (30 mm x 30 mm x 20 mm). It is aimed at electronics builders, OEM engineers and repair shops who pour encapsulant around a circuit, sensor or splice and need a disposable open shell to hold the compound while it cures and to stay on as the finished housing.

Each box is a one piece molded part with no lid, designed specifically for potting box applications. The shell is molded from black general purpose ABS plastic with a UL94 HB flame rating and a smooth black finish. The part drawing shows a 1.00 mm (0.039 in) wall, and the box is temperature rated from -20 ºC to +94 ºC (-4 ºF to 201.2 ºF).

Buying the 1596B111-10 gives you ten identical boxes in one bag, with a listed shipping weight of 0.11 lbs (0.05 kg). Plan your potting compound with the plastic in mind: the manufacturer warns that acetone, ketones, ethers, aromatic and chlorinated hydrocarbons, thread locking compounds, cutting or tapping fluid, strong solvents and some greases and oils can damage ABS. If you drill or trim a box, clear chips with an air blast rather than cutting fluid, and clean only with products listed as plastic safe.
