Hammond 1591XXLSBK 87 x 58 mm Economy Black Abs Pcb Enclosure

The Hammond 1591XXLSBK is the economy black version of the 1591XXL enclosure, a compact member of the 1591XX family of ABS plastic multi-purpose enclosures with PC board standoffs. It is intended for electronics designers, OEM engineers and technicians who need a general purpose plastic project box that holds a printed circuit board horizontally.

As an economy version it is molded from general purpose ABS that is not flame retardant (flame rating UL94 HB), and the lid is assembled with #4 x 1/2" self-tapping screws driven into fully plastic posts rather than brass inserts, giving a simpler assembly where a flame retardant rating is not required.

The ordering table lists the 1591XXL at 3.43 in (87 mm) long, 2.28 in (58 mm) wide and 1.54 in (39 mm) deep; the part page gives a nominal size of 3.4 in x 2.2 in x 1.4 in (86 mm x 56 mm x 36 mm). Inside, the drawing shows 80.85 mm [3.18 in] x 51.65 mm [2.03 in] with 35.00 mm [1.38 in] of inside height and a 2.00 mm [.08 in] wall. A board up to 80.00 mm [3.15 in] x 51.00 mm [2.01 in] fits in either the box or the lid, mounting on the integral standoffs that accept #4 x 1/4" self-tapping screws (not included).

This version has a plain lid. If you need to fix it to a wall or panel, accessory ABS mounting flanges are sold separately (1591FLBK black, 1591FLGY grey). The internal sides are smooth for easy connector installation.

The 1591XXLSBK is designed to meet IP54 against dust and splashing water, is RoHS and REACH compliant, and ships shrink wrapped at 0.1 lbs (0.05 kg). Enclosures can be factory modified (milling, drilling, printing) and solid models are available in STEP or IGES.
