Hammond 1591SSBK Black 110x82x44mm General Purpose ABS Enclosure

The 1591SSBK is the economy, general purpose ABS version of the 1591S enclosure in the 1591 Series of multipurpose plastic boxes with card guides. Finished in black, it measures 4.33 x 3.24 x 1.73 in (110 x 82 x 44 mm) and suits cost-sensitive electronics projects, prototypes and OEM assemblies where a flame retardant housing is not required.

This version is molded from general purpose plastic that is not flame retardant; its flame rating is UL94 HB. It keeps the same lap joint construction as the standard boxes, protecting against dust and splashing water, and is designed to meet IP54. Because it is a black enclosure, it ships with black lid screws.

The interior measures 103.77 x 75.87 x 39.90 mm (4.085 x 2.987 x 1.571 in), with card guides molded into all side walls for vertical mounting of 1.5 mm (0.062 in) printed circuit boards. The guides are 34.90 mm (1.374 in) high. 1591Z card adaptors, sold separately, allow boards to sit horizontally instead.

Unlike the standard versions, the lid is assembled with #4 self-tapping screws driven into fully plastic posts; the recommended torque is 42-57 ozf.in (30-40 cN.m). The purchased assembly includes box, lid and 4 cover screws. Replacement self-tapping screws come in packs of 100 as 1591TS100 or 1591TS100BK, and the 1591SC clear polycarbonate lid also fits. The 1591SSBK is RoHS and REACH compliant and ships at 0.2 lbs (0.09 kg).
