Hammond 1591ABG 100x50x25mm Beige Flame Retardant ABS Enclosure

The 1591ABG is the beige version of the 1591A size in the 1591 multipurpose enclosure line: a small, flame retardant ABS project box for electronics designers and OEM builders that need to house a vertically mounted printed circuit board.

It measures 100 x 50 x 25 mm (3.94 x 1.97 x 0.98 in). The part drawing gives inside dimensions of about 93.83 mm long, 43.83 mm wide and 20.90 mm high. Card guides are molded into all side walls and accept 1.5 mm (0.062") thick boards; for horizontal board mounting, the 1591Z6, 1591Z50 and 1591Z100 card adaptor packs are available.

The material is ABS plastic with a UL94 V-0 flammability rating. Lap joint construction between box and lid provides protection against access of dust and splashing water, and the enclosure is designed to meet IP54. The purchased assembly includes the box, lid, four cover screws and pre-installed brass inserts, so the lid fastens with M3 - 0.5 machine screws that thread into brass rather than plastic, which suits repeated opening. The drawing's recommended torque is 35.5-42.5 ozf.in (25-30 cN.m).

Accessories include the 1591AC clear flame retardant polycarbonate lid, the 1599CLIP nylon belt/pocket clip, and 100-packs of plated M3 - 0.5 x 10 mm cover screws (1591MS100 silver or 1591MS100BK black). The enclosure is RoHS and REACH compliant, ships shrink wrapped and weighs 0.11 lbs (0.05 kg). Hammond notes that some chemicals, such as acetone, thread locking compounds and cutting fluid, can damage ABS.
