Hammond 1590Z166 360x160x90mm Watertight Diecast Aluminum Enclosure

The 1590Z166 is a thick wall, water-tight diecast aluminum enclosure in natural aluminum measuring 14.17 in x 6.3 in x 3.54 in (360 mm x 160 mm x 90 mm). It is one of the larger footprints in the 1590Z series and suits integrators and OEM engineers housing larger boards, power supplies or multi-module electronics that must be protected from dust and water.

The box and lid are diecast aluminum alloy with an average wall thickness of 4.00 mm [0.16 in]. A replaceable one-piece silicone rubber gasket, rated -40C to +150C (-40F to 302F), seals the tongue and groove joint and ships loose inside the box. Four recessed stainless steel machine screws, self-captivating and thread-forming on first installation, secure the lid into tapped holes. Recommended cover screw torque is 15-17 lbf.in (150-170 cN.m).

Inside dimensions per the drawing are 345.01 mm [13.58 in] long, 144.70 mm [5.70 in] wide and 82.00 mm [3.23 in] deep, and the lid depth is 20 mm (0.79 in). An internal mounting shelf accepts the optional 1590Z166PL steel inner panel, and listed maximum P.C. board figures are 145 mm and 344.7 mm. The enclosure includes box, lid, silicone gasket, 4 cover screws and 4 ground screws with washers, and accepts an M6 ground screw. Wall mounting uses blind through holes outside the gasket.

The enclosure is cUL and UL listed (file E65324) and has been independently tested to meet IP66, IP67 and IP68 as well as NEMA Type 4, 4X, 6, 6P, 12 and 13, with an impact rating of IK08 per IEC62262. Customers should conduct their own testing to determine suitability for any specific application. The 1590Z166 is RoHS and REACH compliant and ships in shrink wrap at 5.8 lbs (2.63 kg).
