Hammond 1590Z119GY 120x122x82mm Gray RAL 7001 Diecast Aluminum Enclosure

The 1590Z119GY is a thick-wall, watertight diecast aluminum enclosure from the 1590Z Type 4X/ 6P series, powder painted in smooth gray RAL 7001. A near-square, deep box for electronics that must be protected against the ingress of dust and water, it suits OEM engineers, electricians and integrators.

It measures 4.72 in (120 mm) long, 4.80 in (122 mm) wide and 3.23 in (82 mm) in total depth, with a 0.83 in (21 mm) deep lid. Inside, the drawing gives 108.53 mm [4.27 in] length, 110.86 mm [4.36 in] width and 73.35 mm [2.89 in] depth, with an average wall thickness of 4.75 mm [.19 in]. Maximum P.C. board size is listed as 107.52 mm x 107.7 mm. Shipping weight is 1.98 lbs (0.90 kg).

Construction is two-piece tongue and groove with a replaceable one-piece silicone rubber gasket, rated -40C to +150C (-40F to 302F), that is supplied loose inside the enclosure rather than pre-installed. The lid closes with four recessed stainless steel M6 machine screws; the recommended cover screw torque is 15-17 lbf.in (150-170 cN.m). The purchased assembly includes the box, lid, silicone gasket, 4 cover screws and 4 ground screws with washers, and the box accepts M6 machine ground screws. The lid screws are self-captivating and create threads on first installation, and the design is intended for repetitive opening and closing.

For installation, blind through-holes located outside the gasket protection allow easy wall mounting. It has an internal mounting shelf for the optional 1590Z119PL steel inner panel. Spares are SC564-12 lid screws (12 pack, M6 - 1.0 x 35mm), SCGM6-20 copper ground hardware (M6 - 1.0 x 10mm / M6 washer) and the 1590Z119G replacement gasket two-pack.

The series is cUL and UL listed (file E65324), independently tested to IP66, IP67 and IP68 and to NEMA Type 4, 4X, 6, 6P, 12 and 13, and carries an IK08 impact rating per IEC62262. Customers should confirm suitability for their application by their own testing. This gray version (RAL7001 Gloss on the drawing) is powder painted inside and out; the same size is also offered in natural and textured black.
