Hammond 1590WR1F Natural 192x112x61mm IP65 Flanged-Base Diecast Box

The 1590WR1F is a water-tight diecast aluminum enclosure from the 1590 Series, built for electronics designers, OEM engineers and integrators who need a rugged instrument housing rated IP65. It offers a long 192 mm body, a listed maximum P.C. board size of 102.42 mm (length) by 182.42 mm (width), and six cover screws rather than the four used on most 1590 sizes.

Box and lid are made from diecast aluminum alloy, a material the manufacturer notes is tough yet easy to machine. Lap-joint construction where the lid meets the box helps keep out dust and splashing water. This is the unpainted natural version: the diecast aluminum is vibra finished for a smooth surface with no sharp edges; diecast aluminum is tough yet easy to machine if you need openings for connectors or controls.

The part page lists the size as 7.55 in x 4.39 in x 2.4 in (192 mm x 112 mm x 61 mm). On the drawing the box measures 191.80 mm [7.551 in] long, 111.60 mm [4.394 in] wide and 61.00 mm [2.402 in] high, with inside dimensions of 184.42 mm [7.261 in] by 104.42 mm [4.111 in] and an inside height of 56.50 mm [2.224 in]. With the flanged bottom plate the drawing shows an overall height of 62.50 mm [2.461 in]. Side walls have a low draft angle of 2° or less for easier PC board mounting, and the lid is 0.16" (4 mm) high.

This version adds a flanged bottom plate: the drawing notes that the bottom flange is welded to the box (the series describes it as a spot-welded bottom flange), extending the overall length to 216.43 mm [8.521 in] for wall mounting.

Each 1590WR1F ships as a box, lid and 6 cover screws that thread into factory-tapped 6-32 UNC holes, plus a silicone gasket supplied loose inside the enclosure rather than pre-installed. The drawing recommends 25-30 cN.m [36-43 ozf.in] of screw torque with the gasket fitted. Replacement gaskets are sold as kit 1590RGASKET. It is RoHS and REACH compliant, and weighs 1.23 lbs (0.56 kg) shipped.
