Hammond 1590WH 53x38x31mm IP65 Watertight Diecast Box, Natural

The 1590WH is a compact 53 x 38 mm rugged diecast aluminum electronic instrument enclosure, built liquid-resistant for a small PC board in places with dust and splashing water. It is the natural aluminum watertight version with no mounting flanges, rated IP65 and listed by the manufacturer as a die-cast box, water-tight. It suits OEM engineers and integrators who want a sealed metal housing they can machine themselves, since diecast aluminum is tough yet easy to machine.

Box and lid are made from diecast aluminum alloy. Lap joint construction where lid and box meet guards against dust and splashing water, and the unpainted natural finish is vibra finished for a smooth surface with no sharp edges.

Outside, the enclosure measures 52.50 mm long, 38.00 mm wide and 31.00 mm high on the drawing. Inside there is 48.63 mm of length, 34.13 mm of width and 27.30 mm of height, and the listing gives maximum PC board figures of 33.13 mm and 47.63 mm. Side walls have a low draft angle of 2 degrees or less to make board mounting easier. Shipping weight is 0.12 lbs (0.05 kg).

The lid fastens with four 6-32 UNC screws into factory-tapped holes, and the watertight version includes a silicone gasket that is supplied loose inside the enclosure rather than pre-installed. The 1590 series gasket guidance calls for lid screws torqued to 25-30 cN.m (36-43 ozf.in) to meet IP65. The replacement gasket kit for this size is 1590HGASKET.

The 1590WH is RoHS and REACH compliant, ships in shrink wrap, and carries UPC 623980758930. The equivalent non-gasketed IP54 version is 1590H. Solid models are available in .stp or .x_t, and the enclosure can be factory modified with milling, drilling or printing.
