Hammond 1590WFF 188x188x67mm Natural Watertight Box, Flanged Base

The 1590WFF is the water-tight version of the 1590F, a square diecast aluminum enclosure measuring 7.4 in x 7.4 in x 2.64 in (188 mm x 188 mm x 67 mm). It has a flanged bottom plate, and the drawing notes the bottom flange is welded. The wide, low profile suits OEM engineers and integrators housing larger PC boards and instrument electronics that must be protected from dust and splashing water.

Box and lid are die-cast aluminum alloy, tough yet easy to machine, and meet in a lap joint. This water-tight version is designed to meet IP65 and includes a silicone gasket supplied loose inside the enclosure, not pre-installed. This natural version is unpainted and vibra finished, leaving a smooth aluminum surface with no sharp edges.

Maximum P.C. board size is listed as 174.91 mm x 174.91 mm. The drawing shows an inside width of 178.50 mm [7.027 in] and an inside height of 61.51 mm [2.422 in]. Overall length across the flange is 216.64 mm [8.529 in] and height including the flanged bottom plate is 68.50 mm [2.697 in]. Side walls have a draft angle of 2° or less for easy board mounting, and the lid is 0.16" (4 mm) high.

The 1590F size is one of the few in the series secured by eight cover screws, supplied threaded into factory-tapped holes and taking 6-32 x 1/2" screws. Recommended torque is 50-55 cN.m [71-78 ozf.in], or 25-30 cN.m [36-43 ozf.in] with the gasket. Optional items include the 1590FGASKET replacement gasket kit and 1590WMS100 liquid resistant screws with O-ring. The 1590WFF is RoHS and REACH compliant, ships shrink wrapped and weighs 2.25 lbs (1.02 kg).
