Hammond 1590WB3 116x77x38mm IP65 Watertight Diecast Aluminum Box

The 1590WB3 is the watertight version of the 1590B3, a wider companion to the 1590B2 with a 116 x 77 x 38 mm nominal footprint. The unflanged natural aluminum box is rated IP65 with its silicone gasket and gives designers roughly 71.67 mm of inside width for wider circuit boards.

The box and lid are made from diecast aluminum alloy, which is tough yet easy to machine, and carry a natural aluminum finish that is vibra finished for a smooth surface with no sharp edges. A lap joint where lid and box meet guards against dust and splashing water, and a side wall draft angle of 2° or less eases PC board mounting. The maximum P.C. board dimensions listed for this part are 69.67 mm and 108.67 mm.

The listed size of 1590WB3 is 4.57 in x 3.03 in x 1.48 in (116 mm x 77 mm x 38 mm), and the series ordering table gives a nominal 4.57 in (116 mm) x 3.03 in (77 mm) x 1.50 in (38 mm). It has no mounting flanges, so the outside is a clean rectangle of 116.00 mm [4.567 in] by 77.00 mm [3.031 in] by 37.50 mm [1.476 in] on the drawing. Inside, the drawing gives 110.67 mm [4.357 in] of length, 71.67 mm [2.822 in] of width and 33.50 mm [1.319 in] of height; the lid height is 0.16 in (4 mm).

As a watertight version it is designed to meet IP65 and includes a silicone gasket, supplied loose inside the enclosure rather than pre-installed. The purchased assembly includes box, lid and 4 cover screws that thread into factory-tapped 6-32 UNC holes. Recommended torque is 50-55 cN.m [71-78 ozf.in], or 25-30 cN.m [36-43 ozf.in] with the gasket fitted. Replacement gasket kit 1590B3GASKET holds two pre-formed, adhesive-backed silicone gaskets.

It is RoHS and REACH compliant, ships in shrink wrap at 0.51 lbs (0.23 kg), and solid models are available in STEP or IGES.
