The 1590N1 is a 121 x 66 x 40 mm diecast aluminum enclosure with no mounting flanges, in natural aluminum. Its short description notes no card guides, giving a plain interior for electronics designers, OEMs and hobby builders who want a rugged metal instrument case they can drill, mill and fit out themselves.
Box and lid are diecast aluminum alloy, which is tough yet easy to machine. The unpainted finish is vibra finished for a smooth surface with no sharp edges. The lid overlaps the box in a lap joint that protects against dust and splashing water, and this standard version is designed to meet IP54.
The drawing gives outside dimensions of 121.20 x 65.50 x 39.80 mm [4.772 x 2.579 x 1.567 in] and an inside of 115.91 x 60.21 x 35.30 mm. Maximum PC board dimensions are listed as 115.91 and 60.21 mm, and side walls have a draft angle of 2° or less to simplify board mounting. The lid is 0.16 in (4 mm) high.
Each assembly includes the box, lid and 4 cover screws in factory-tapped 6-32 UNC holes, with a recommended torque of 50-55 cN.m. Need a sealed box? The water-tight equivalent is 1590WN1, and 1590NGASKET upgrades this enclosure to IP65. Shipping weight is 0.35 lbs (0.16 kg); RoHS and REACH compliant.
