The 1590BBGASKET is a two-pack of pre-formed silicone gaskets used to convert a standard IP54 1590 Series diecast aluminum enclosure into one designed to meet IP65. It is the replacement gasket kit listed for the 120 x 94 mm footprint enclosures in the series ordering table: the 1590BB, 1590BB2, 1590BBS and 1590C sizes, in every mounting style and colour, including the water-tight versions.
Each gasket has an adhesive backing for easy installation and is applied to the lid. Because the gasket goes on separately, you can machine and/or paint the enclosure first and gasket it later, which keeps paint and cutting fluid away from the seal. Water-tight 1590 enclosures already ship with a gasket supplied loose inside; this kit lets you upgrade a standard box or replace a gasket.
The silicone gasket has a temperature rating of -40°C to 150°C (-40°F to 302°F). The enclosure is designed to meet IP65 with the gasket properly installed and the lid screws torqued to 25-30 cN.m (36-43 ozf.in), lower than the 50-55 cN.m used without a gasket. When converting a standard enclosure, the series notes also recommend the stainless steel cover screws with O-ring.
