Hammond 1556FGY 160x160x45mm Light Gray ABS Desktop Enclosure

The 1556FGY is a square light gray flame retardant ABS enclosure from the 1556 Series with a 160 x 160 mm (6.30 x 6.30 in) footprint and a 45 mm (1.77 in) total height. The low-profile F size suits flat printed circuit board assemblies, IoT gateways and small controllers that need a compact housing for a desk, shelf or wall.

The box and lid are molded from flame retardant ABS plastic with a light satin texture, carrying a UL94 V-0 flammability rating. Rounded corners and face give a modern look, while lap joint construction protects against dust and splashing water; the enclosure is designed to meet IP54 and is for indoor use only.

The drawing shows inside dimensions of 153.21 x 153.21 mm (6.03 x 6.03 in) with 39.00 mm (1.54 in) of inside height. Maximum PC board size is 142 x 142 mm, and boards can be screwed to the mounting locations in the lid and base or fitted on the optional 1556FPL aluminum inner panel.

The purchased assembly includes the box, lid, 4 cover screws and 4 rubber feet, so it is ready for tabletop use out of the box. For walls, the 1556FOOTGY-4 light gray mounting foot kit (sold separately) supports a heavy duty wall flange mount or a flush keyhole-style mount. Recommended cover screw torque is 71-85 ozf-in (50-60 cN-m) and PCB screw torque is 42-56 ozf-in (30-40 cN-m). It is REACH and RoHS compliant, ships in shrink wrap, and can be factory modified with milling, drilling or printing. Some chemicals can damage or weaken ABS, so check compatibility before using solvents, thread lockers or cutting fluids.
