Hammond 1556EGY 160x120x45mm Light Gray ABS IoT Enclosure

The 1556EGY is a light gray flame retardant ABS enclosure from the 1556 Series, measuring 160 x 120 x 45 mm (6.30 x 4.72 x 1.77 in). It is the rectangular, low-profile 45 mm height option in the 1556E footprint, aimed at engineers and integrators housing printed circuit boards, IoT equipment and other small electronics that need a clean desktop or wall-mount housing.

The box and lid are molded from flame retardant ABS plastic with a light satin texture, carrying a UL94 V-0 flammability rating. Rounded corners and face give a modern look, while lap joint construction protects against dust and splashing water; the enclosure is designed to meet IP54 and is for indoor use only.

Inside, the drawing gives a usable length of 153.21 mm (6.03 in), width of 113.21 mm (4.46 in) and height of 39.00 mm (1.54 in). The part page lists a maximum PC board size of 145 x 102 mm, and multiple mounting locations inside the lid and base allow direct board mounting or use of the 1556EPL aluminum inner panel, sold separately.

The purchased assembly includes the box, lid, 4 cover screws and 4 rubber feet, so it is ready for tabletop use out of the box. For walls, the 1556FOOTGY-4 light gray mounting foot kit (sold separately) supports a heavy duty wall flange mount or a flush keyhole-style mount. Recommended cover screw torque is 71-85 ozf-in (50-60 cN-m) and PCB screw torque is 42-56 ozf-in (30-40 cN-m). It is REACH and RoHS compliant, ships in shrink wrap, and can be factory modified with milling, drilling or printing. Some chemicals can damage or weaken ABS, so check compatibility before using solvents, thread lockers or cutting fluids.
