The 1553DXBK is the dual end panel ("X") version of the 1553 D-size hand held enclosure, molded in black ABS with a gray soft side overmold. With plastic panels at both ends it suits handheld electronics that need connectors, switches or cables at each end, and is aimed at OEM engineers and designers building handheld products.
The case measures 5.79 x 3.50 x 0.98 in (147 x 89 x 25 mm). It accepts a maximum P.C. board of 5.43 x 3.11 in (138 x 79 mm), and the drawing shows an inner box height of 19.50 mm. PC board standoffs are molded into the case and accept #4 self-tapping screws.
The top cover is recessed for a membrane display or keypad, and the enclosure is designed to meet IP54. The purchased 1553DXBK assembly includes the top, bottom, 2 plastic end panels and 4 cover screws; the P.C. board is not supplied. Recommended cover screw torque is 2.5 lbf-in (30 cN-m) and the replacement lid screws are 1593QS100BK.
Enclosures can be factory modified by milling, drilling or printing, and solid models are available in .stp or .x_t. The 1553DXBK ships in a bag, weighs 0.21 lbs (0.10 kg) and is RoHS and REACH compliant. For boards, the 1553DBPCB ProtoBoard is designed for all 1553 size D enclosures.
