Hammond 1553DPLRD-10 Red 1553D Replacement End Panels, 10-Pack

The 1553DPLRD-10 is a pack of 10 red end panels for size D enclosures in the 1553 Series of soft-sided handheld cases. Integrators and product builders use extra end panels to hold spares, to rework cut-outs without replacing the whole enclosure, or to prepare machined panels for a production run.

Each panel is molded from ABS plastic in red. Each measures 2.8 x 0.78 x 0.1 in (71 x 20 x 3 mm). The series ordering table lists five colours of 1553D end panel 10-packs: black 1553DPLBK-10, gray 1553DPLGY-10, red 1553DPLRD-10, translucent blue 1553DPLTBU-10 and yellow 1553DPLYL-10.

1553 size D enclosures ship with a removable front panel, so a spare panel can be drilled or cut for switches, connectors, cable entries or indicators while the original is kept intact. Red panels can match the red 1553D enclosures or add a colour accent to another case colour.

When machining the panels, note that some chemicals can damage or weaken ABS plastic. The manufacturer advises against acetone, ketones, ethers, aromatic and chlorinated hydrocarbons, thread-locking compounds, and cutting or tapping fluid, and recommends using an air blast to clear chips away when making modifications.
