Hammond 1551V2BK 80x40 mm Vented Black ABS Snap-Fit Enclosure

The 1551V2BK is a vented black rectangular miniature enclosure for IoT and sensor electronics that need to breathe. Its nominal 80 x 40 mm footprint and 20 mm depth give room for a longer PC board, up to 74 x 34 mm, in a housing that still mounts flat on a wall.

Vent openings keep fingers and tools away from the circuitry while allowing air and moisture in for applications that require environmental exposure, such as sensors. The enclosure is molded in ABS plastic rated UL94 HB and is designed to meet IP30.

Overall size is listed as 3.15 in x 1.57 in x 0.79 in (80 mm x 40 mm x 20 mm), with a drawing height of 20.30 mm [.80 in] for the assembled enclosure. Four PC board standoffs are molded into the interior and accept #2 self tapping screws; Hammond recommends #2 x 3/16" self tapping screws, sold separately as 1553WTS100 (pack of 100), tightened to a recommended torque of (35-43) ozf.in / (25-30) cN.m. Shipping weight is 0.05 lbs (0.02 kg).

The part is RoHS and REACH compliant. The same size is also offered as the unvented 1551SNAP2BK. Hammond notes that some chemicals, including acetone, ketones, thread locking compounds and cutting fluids, can damage ABS plastic, so check compatibility before cleaning or modifying the enclosure.
