Hammond 1550Z124F 223 x 147 mm Flanged Watertight Diecast Enclosure

The 1550Z124F is a long, shallow enclosure from the 1550ZF Series of watertight diecast aluminum enclosures with flanges. With a 223 x 147 mm nominal footprint and 55 mm total depth, it is aimed at engineers who need room for a larger board or a row of connectors in a surface-mounted, sealed housing.

Its thick walls are cast from diecast aluminum alloy that is tough yet easy to machine, and two piece tongue and groove construction protects against dust and water. It is the unpainted Natural Aluminum version, vibra finished for a smooth surface with no sharp edges. The bottom flange is spot-welded, and the interior is free of ribs so connectors install without additional milling.

Overall dimensions are 9.8 x 5.77 x 2.27 in (249 x 147 x 58 mm); the series table gives 223 mm length, 147 mm width, 55 mm total depth and a 5 mm lid height. The drawing lists an inside length of 214.49 mm [8.44 in] and inside depth of 49.50 mm [1.95 in]. Maximum P.C. board dimensions are 137.33 mm and 213.33 mm.

Six stainless steel Philips head M4 - 0.7 machine screws hold the lid, positioned outside the gasket protection area to eliminate o-rings; tighten to 5-7.5 lbf.in (50-75 cN.m). The one-piece silicone gasket is rated -40°C to +150°C, and the box accepts a #6 self-tapping ground screw.

Hammond lists the 1550ZF family under cUL and UL file #E71073, and it has been independently tested to meet IP66, IP67 and IP68 as well as NEMA Type 4, 4X, 12 and 13 ratings; this size also carries an IK08 impact rating per IEC62262. Hammond advises customers to conduct their own testing to determine suitability for any specific application.
