Hammond 1550Z111FBK 142x65x58 mm Black Flanged Diecast Aluminum Enclosure

The 1550Z111FBK is a thick-wall, watertight diecast aluminum enclosure with a flanged base, built for electronic instruments, controls and connectors that need protection against dust and water. It is cUL and UL listed under file #E71073 and independently tested to IP66, IP67 and IP68 and NEMA Type 4, 4X, 12 and 13. It is the black textured counterpart of the natural-finish 1550Z111F.

The 1550Z111 is the deep version of the 115 x 65 mm footprint: 55 mm total depth and 49.70 mm [1.96 in] inside depth, 142 x 65 x 58 mm overall, taking a board up to 56.7 mm by 106.7 mm. It uses the 1550Z106GASKET replacement gasket. Nominal body size is 4.53 in (115 mm) long by 2.56 in (65 mm) wide with a total depth of 2.17 in (55 mm) and a lid height of 0.20 in (5 mm); shipping weight is 0.78 lbs (0.35 kg).

Box and lid are made from diecast aluminum alloy that is tough yet easy to machine, and there are no internal ribs, so connectors can be installed without interference or additional milling. Two-piece tongue and groove construction and a pre-formed, one-piece silicone rubber gasket rated -40°C to +150°C (-40°F to 302°F) keep out dust and water. Its textured black finish is a tough polyester powder coat applied outside and inside the enclosure for a lasting finish, even after machining, with cleared areas around the internal grounding points.

A strong spot-welded bottom flange makes surface mounting straightforward. The lid is secured with four stainless steel Phillips head M4 - 0.7 x 20mm machine screws that sit outside the gasket area, eliminating the need for o-rings; the recommended cover screw torque is 5-7.5 lbf.in (50-75 cN.m). The box accepts a #6 self-tapping ground screw. The enclosure carries an IK08 impact rating per IEC62262 and is RoHS and REACH compliant.
