Hammond 1550WABK 89x35x30 mm Black Watertight Diecast Aluminum Box

The 1550WABK is a black watertight diecast aluminum enclosure from the 1550 Series, measuring 3.50 in (89 mm) x 1.38 in (35 mm) x 1.18 in (30 mm) including the lid. It is supplied with an IP66 EVA foam gasket and is rated IP66, making it a practical housing for electronics builders, OEM engineers and integrators whose circuits face dust and water.

The 1550A size is the narrowest in the 1550 ordering table: a long 89 x 35 mm footprint and 30 mm overall height that suits long, slender PC boards. Per the drawing, the inside box measures 85.16 mm [3.35 in] long by 31.16 mm [1.23 in] wide with 27.10 mm [1.07 in] of inside height, and the box stands 26.00 mm [1.02 in] tall without the 4 mm lid.

The rugged die-cast alloy is tough yet easy to machine. It is finished in tough satin black polyester powder paint that lasts even after machining, and black lid screws are included for a matched assembled appearance. Walls have no internal ribs, so connectors fit without interference or extra milling, and the low side wall draft angle (2° less) makes PC board mounting easier. The lid is secured by M3.5 x 0.6 x 12 mm stainless steel Phillips head screws into factory tapped holes.

The EVA foam gasket ships loose inside the enclosure and is rated up to 65°C (149°F); installed properly with the lid screws torqued at 55 cN.m the 1550WABK is designed to meet IP66. Spares are 1550AEGASKET (IP66) and the silicone IP67 upgrade is 1550ASGASKET. The same size without a gasket is 1550A (natural) or 1550ABK (black).
