Hammond 1550QBK 60x55x30 mm Black Diecast Aluminum Enclosure

The 1550QBK is a black diecast aluminum enclosure from the 1550 Series, measuring 2.36 in (60 mm) x 2.17 in (55 mm) x 1.18 in (30 mm) including the lid. Supplied without a gasket, it is rated IP54 through its lap-joint lid, and suits instrument builders, OEM engineers and hobby project boxes alike.

The 1550Q size is the shortest in the 1550 ordering table at 60 mm long, with a near-square 60 x 55 mm footprint and 30 mm overall height. Per the drawing, the inside box measures 55.74 mm [2.19 in] long by 50.74 mm [2.00 in] wide with 26.80 mm [1.06 in] of inside height, and the box stands 26.00 mm [1.02 in] tall without the 4 mm lid.

The rugged die-cast alloy is tough yet easy to machine. It is finished in tough satin black polyester powder paint that lasts even after machining, and black lid screws are included for a matched assembled appearance. Walls have no internal ribs, so connectors fit without interference or extra milling, and the low side wall draft angle (2° less) makes PC board mounting easier. The lid is secured by M3.5 x 0.6 x 12 mm stainless steel Phillips head screws into factory tapped holes.

To make it water-tight, add the 1550QEGASKET EVA foam kit (designed to meet IP66) or the 1550QSGASKET silicone kit (tested to meet IP67), each with lid screws torqued at 55 cN.m. Versions supplied with the IP66 gasket are 1550WQ (natural) and 1550WQBK (black).
