The Hammond 1485CRE is a wireway reducer from the 1485 RE Series that steps an N12 wireway run down from 4 x 4 to 2.5 x 2.5. It is intended for electricians, panel builders and plant engineers who need to transition between wireway sizes, for example where a main 4 x 4 trunk feeds a smaller branch run.
The reducer is steel with a gray finish. Its drawing shows a 5.38 in square flange with a 3.86 in inside opening at the 4 x 4 end, matching the 4 x 4 wireway body of 4.63 in, and a 3.13 in body at the 2.5 x 2.5 end. The hinged-cover door is drawn tapering from 4.58 in to 2.50 in, and mounting holes are 0.28 in diameter.
