Hammond 1457L1602E 160mm Flanged EMI Shielded Enclosure, Clear Anodized

The 1457L1602E is a low-profile EMI/RFI shielded enclosure: a single 160 mm aluminum extrusion only 32 mm tall and 104 mm wide, closed by flanged end panels with integrated wall-mounting flanges. It suits OEM engineers and integrators packaging a Eurocard-format PC board that must be shielded from, or kept from emitting, electromagnetic and radio-frequency interference.

The body is one piece of extruded aluminum 6063 with a minimum thickness of 0.06" (1.5 mm) and a 0.75 mm (0.030") deep recess for a label or membrane keypad. The extruded body is clear anodized, leaving a natural aluminum look, while the two ADC-12 diecast aluminum end panels carry a durable black satin powder paint. Full perimeter conductive foam/fabric gaskets of Ni/Cu (nickel/copper) with conductive pressure sensitive adhesive seal each end panel to the body.

Nominal size is 6.3 in x 4.09 in x 1.26 in (160 mm x 104 mm x 32 mm), with an inside face-to-face dimension of 160.00 ±0.50 mm [6.299 ±0.020 in]. PC boards slide horizontally into internal slots extruded into the body; part data lists a maximum board of 159 mm x 99 mm, and the drawing notes "Fits 160mm (6.299") X 100mm (3.937") PCB". Shipping weight is 0.3 lbs (0.14 kg).

Integrated flanges on the end panels let the 1457L1602E be screwed to a wall or panel; the drawing shows 191.56 mm [7.542 in] overall length with flange mounting holes on 179.56 mm [7.069 in] centres. If you prefer a free-standing box, the same body is offered with flat end panels as 1457L1601E. Assembly uses #6 Taptight thread forming screws with O-rings, black zinc plated to ASTM B633-13 (Type II, SC3); the recommended screw torque is 5 lbf/in.

The enclosure is designed to meet IP54 and is RoHS and REACH compliant. Note that the EMI gaskets are not water-tight. Solid models are available in STEP or IGES, and the factory can mill, drill or print the enclosure.
