Hammond 1456RK4BKBK 17 in 30° Sloped Aluminum Console, All-Black Finish

The Hammond 1456RK4BKBK is a sloped aluminum instrument console from the 1456 Series, supplied with a black top panel on a black case. It is built for electronics designers, OEM engineers and integrators who need a desktop housing with an angled front panel for switches, displays, meters and controls.

The 1456RK4 body has the steepest slope offered in the 1456 series, 30 degrees, on a 17 in (432 mm) wide by 10.2 in (259 mm) deep footprint. The top panel climbs from a low 1.10 in (28 mm) front edge to a 4.00 in (102 mm) rear, giving the tallest rear wall of the 17-inch sizes for components mounted behind the panel.

Both the case and the top panel are made from 12 gauge (0.081 in / 2 mm) aluminum. This version is finished black on both parts, a black top panel on a black case ("Black Top / Black Case" on the drawing), for a uniform dark look. The 1456RK4BKBK is rated IP31, is RoHS and REACH compliant, and ships shrink-wrapped at 3.52 lbs (1.60 kg). Overall dimensions on the manufacturer drawing are 434.82 mm [17.12 in] wide, 266.29 mm [10.48 in] deep and 106.83 mm [4.21 in] high.

The console is sold pre-assembled: the purchased assembly includes the case, the cover, six cover screws and four self-adhesive rubber feet. The recommended cover-screw torque is 150-175 cN-m (13.3-15.5 lbf-in). Replacement 6-32 x 1/4 in self-tapping cover screws are available as 1421J6 (natural finish, pack of 6) or 1421J6BK (black, pack of 6), and spare 0.5 x 0.5 in self-adhesive rubber feet as 1421T3 (pack of 24).

Enclosures can be factory modified with milling, drilling and printing, and solid models are available in STEP or IGES for layout work. The same 1456RK4 size is also offered as 1456RK4BKBU and 1456RK4WHBU in the other top and case colour combinations.
