The 1455Q1601BU is a blue anodized extruded aluminum PC board enclosure measuring 160 x 125 x 51.5 mm with metal end panels and a removable sliding plate. It is built for electronics designers, OEM engineers and integrators who need to house PC boards or interface equipment in a compact, rugged metal case.
The body is extruded aluminum with a minimum thickness of 0.06 in (1.5 mm), made from 6063 alloy according to the drawing, and PC boards mount horizontally by sliding into internal slots extruded into the body. The extrusion is designed for a 120 mm wide PC board; the maximum board size is 159 mm long by 119.5 mm wide. The enclosure carries an IP54 rating.
Each 1455Q1601BU ships with two flat aluminum end panels colour matched to the housing and two open plastic bezels in black (bezels made with polycarbonate), four adhesive rubber feet and #6 x 3/8 in thread-rolling steel end panel screws with a #4 flat head Phillips drive; this colour includes black screws. The flat end plates measure 124.80 mm [4.913 in] x 50.90 mm [2.004 in] on the drawing, which also shows an optional flange end panel, 1455QF, sold as a kit of two panels with black pan head assembly screws.
Recommended screw torque is 5 lbf-in. Replacement feet are 1421T2CL (pack of 24) and replacement screws are 1455MS100BK (quantity 100). Hammond notes that enclosures can be factory modified (milling, drilling, printing) and that solid models are available in STEP or IGES. The 1455Q1601BU is RoHS and REACH compliant, ships in shrink wrap and has a shipping weight of 1 lbs (0.45 kg).
