Hammond 1455L2201RD 220 mm Red Aluminum Enclosure, Metal End Panels

The 1455L2201RD is a red anodized extruded aluminum PC board enclosure from the 1455 Series with aluminum (metal) end panels. At 220 mm long on the 103 mm wide by 30.5 mm deep 1455L profile, it is the longest 1455L length, taking a board up to 219 mm long. It is aimed at OEM engineers, electronics designers and integrators who need to house PC boards or build equipment-interfacing hardware.

The body is extruded aluminum with a minimum wall thickness of 0.06 in (1.5 mm), finished in red anodized. PC boards mount horizontally by sliding into internal slots extruded into the body; the drawing notes the extrusion is designed for a 100 mm wide PC board, with a slot width of 100.00 +/-0.51 mm. This part accepts a board up to 219 mm long and 99 mm wide. The 1455L sizes include a removable sliding plate.

In the box: the extruded body with sliding plate, two flat aluminum end panels colour matched to the housing, two open plastic bezels in black, four adhesive rubber feet and #6 x 3/8 in thread-rolling steel end panel screws with a #4 flat head Phillips drive (black screws on the red version). Recommended screw torque is 5 lbf-in. Optional flange end panels, part 1455LF, are shown on the drawing.

Nominal size is 8.66 in x 4.06 in x 1.22 in (220 mm x 103 mm x 31 mm); over the bezels the drawing shows 106.13 mm [4.178 in] by 33.63 mm [1.324 in]. The 1455L2201RD is rated IP54, is RoHS and REACH compliant, and ships shrink wrapped at 0.73 lbs (0.33 kg). Hammond notes these enclosures can be factory modified (milling, drilling, printing) and that STEP or IGES solid models are available.
