Hammond 1455J1201BK 120x78x27mm Black Aluminum Enclosure, Metal Ends

The 1455J1201BK is a black anodized extruded aluminum enclosure measuring 4.72 in x 3.07 in x 1.06 in (120 mm x 78 mm x 27 mm), supplied with metal (aluminum) end panels. It is designed to house PC boards or for equipment interfacing, making it a fit for electronics designers, OEM engineers and technicians packaging a small circuit board, sensor interface or control module.

The body is extruded aluminum with a minimum wall thickness of 0.06" (1.5 mm), and the drawing specifies extruded aluminum 6063. PC boards mount horizontally by sliding into internal slots extruded into the enclosure body; the drawing notes that the extrusion is designed for a 75 mm wide PC board, and the manufacturer lists a maximum PC board size of 119 mm long by 74 mm wide. This size is listed in the 1455 series table of enclosures with a removable sliding plate.

As a metal end plate version, the 1455J1201BK includes two flat aluminum end panels colour matched to the black housing and two open plastic bezels in black (the drawing lists the bezels as polycarbonate). Also included are four adhesive rubber feet and #6 x 3/8" thread rolling steel end panel screws with a #4 flat head Phillips drive, in black finish for this black version. Hammond recommends 5 lbf-in of screw torque; replacement screws are 1455MS100BK (quantity 100) and replacement feet are 1421T2CL (pack of 24). Optional flange end panels are shown on the drawing as 1455JF.

The enclosure carries an IP54 rating, ships shrink wrapped and weighs 0.38 lbs (0.17 kg). It is RoHS and REACH compliant. Hammond notes that these enclosures can be factory modified (milling, drilling, printing) and that solid models are available in STEP or IGES. The matching plastic end panel version is 1455J1202BK.
