Hammond 1447SA8 20x21.38x8 in Type 12 Steel Disconnect Enclosure

The 1447SA8 is a Type 12 mild steel wallmount disconnect enclosure from the 1447S Series, measuring 20 in high x 21.38 in wide x 8 in deep, with a continuous hinge door and a flange with multi-vendor cutout. It is built to house flange-mounted safety disconnect switches and circuit breaker operating mechanisms. The 20 in x 21-3/8 in body with an 8 in depth is the entry size of the 1447S range, carrying a 17 in x 17 in inner panel for a compact disconnect installation.

The door and flange cutouts suit variable depth flange mounted operating mechanisms from several manufacturers:

• ABB Controls flange-mounted mechanisms for disconnect switches and circuit breakers, plus the cable version for breakers
• Allen Bradley 1494V and 1494U
• C-H Westinghouse C361 and C371, plus Flex-Shaft handle mechanisms
• General Electric Type STDA, plus SpectraFlex cable operators
• Siemens I-T-E Max-Flex
• Square D Class 9422 flange mounted or cable mechanisms (not Class 9422 bracket-mounted, 9422TG1 or TG2 devices)

Construction is formed 14 gauge steel with continuously welded seams, a formed lip on door and enclosure to exclude flowing liquids and contaminants, and a seamless poured-in-place gasket. Welded brackets provide for wall mounting. A removable 12 gauge inner panel measuring 17.00 in (432 mm) wide x 17.00 in (432 mm) high is included, mounted on collar studs and finished in white powder coat; the enclosure and cover are ANSI 61 gray powder coat inside and out. The drawing shows 7.70 in of usable depth and a 17.25 in x 17.25 in door opening.

Disconnects, operating mechanisms and door hardware are not supplied and must be ordered separately from the mechanism manufacturer; at 20 in high, the 1447SA8 requires 2 point door closing hardware. The enclosure is rated UL 508A Type 12, 13 and CSA Type 12, 13, and complies with NEMA Type 12 and 13 and IEC 60529, IP54 when appropriate components are used. Hammond notes this series will soon be discontinued as a stocked line and is available while quantities last.
