Hammond 1444-9552 9.5x5x2 Inch Natural Aluminum Chassis

Hammond's 1444 Series aluminum chassis 1444-9552 gives you a 9.5 x 5 x 2 in (241 x 127 x 51 mm) metal base for electronics builds, with the classic chassis form used in tube audio and vintage-style equipment. The top, front and back are yours to drill, punch and lay out.

The chassis is spot welded for heavy-duty construction and formed from 0.040" (1.02 mm) aluminum. It ships in a natural aluminum finish, and the protective covering on the aluminum can double as a layout surface for marking hole positions before you cut.

Inside, the drawing gives an inner box of 9.42 in (239.27 mm) long, 4.92 in (124.97 mm) wide and 1.92 in (48.77 mm) high, so you can check internal component clearances before ordering. Shipping weight is 0.25 lbs (0.11 kg). The part page lists the size as 9 in x 5.5 in x 2 in (229 mm x 140 mm x 51 mm), while the series ordering table and drawing give 9.5 x 5 x 2 in; confirm against the drawing when laying out.

The bottom is open. A matching natural-finish bottom plate, part 1434-955, is available separately; bottom plates are punched with four 3/16" diameter holes and are made from the same 0.040" aluminum. Mounting hardware for the plate is not included — order 1421J6, a package of six 6-32 x 1/4" self-tapping cover screws. The 1434-955 plate also fits 1444-95525 and 1444-9553 in the same series.

Keep in mind that Hammond's 1451 Series steel chassis covers are not compatible with this series. The chassis is RoHS and REACH compliant, can be factory modified (milling, drilling, printing) on request, and solid models are available in STEP or IGES formats.
