Hammond 1444-6 4x4x2 Inch Natural Aluminum Chassis

The 1444-6 is a compact 4 in x 4 in x 2 in (102 mm x 102 mm x 51 mm) aluminum chassis from the 1444 Series, the smallest square footprint in the range. It suits small audio, tube and hobby electronics builds, test fixtures and one-off prototypes where a classic bent-metal chassis is wanted.

The chassis is spot welded for heavy duty construction and is made of 0.040 in aluminum in a natural aluminum finish. The ordering table lists the aluminum thickness as 0.04 in (1 mm). Per the series photo notes, the protective covering on the aluminum can double as a layout surface when marking out holes.

Inside, the drawing gives an inner box width of 99.57 mm [3.92 in], inner box length of 99.57 mm [3.92 in] and inner box height of 48.77 mm [1.92 in], so you can plan component placement around the real usable space.

The underside is open. The matching natural-finish bottom plate is 1434-6 (0.040 in aluminum, punched with 4 holes of 3/16 in diameter), and plated cover screws 1421J6 (package of 6, 6-32 x 1/4 in self-tapping) fasten it; both are sold separately. The 1451 series steel chassis covers are not compatible.

The 1444-6 is REACH and RoHS compliant, ships in shrink wrap at 0.24 lbs (0.11 kg) and can be factory modified with milling, drilling or printing; solid models are available in STEP or IGES.
