The 1444-542 is a 5 in x 4 in x 2 in (127 mm x 102 mm x 51 mm) aluminum chassis, one of the small sizes in the 1444 Series. It suits compact audio circuits, effects units, small tube or solid-state projects and prototype electronics that need a sturdy metal base.
The chassis is spot welded, heavy duty construction in 0.040 in aluminum (0.04 in / 1 mm in the ordering table) with a natural aluminum finish. The protective covering on the aluminum can be used as a layout tool when marking holes, per the series photo notes.
Inner box dimensions from the drawing are 124.97 mm [4.92 in] long, 99.57 mm [3.92 in] wide and 48.77 mm [1.92 in] high. Shipping weight is 0.25 lbs (0.11 kg).
All components are sold separately. The matching natural-finish bottom plate is 1434-54 (0.040 in aluminum, punched with 4 holes of 3/16 in diameter), and plated cover screws 1421J6 (package of six 6-32 x 1/4 in self-tapping screws) attach it. The 1451 series steel chassis covers are not compatible with the 1444-542.
The 1444-542 is REACH and RoHS compliant and ships in shrink wrap. It can be factory modified with milling, drilling or printing, and solid models are available in STEP or IGES.
