Hammond 1444-17156 17x15x6 in Tall Natural Aluminum Chassis

The Hammond 1444-17156 is the tallest option on the 17 x 15 in footprint, with a 6 in height that leaves close to 5.9 in of inner box height for under-deck wiring and components. It is an open-bottom, natural-finish aluminum chassis from the 1444 Series, aimed at electronics hobbyists, audio and instrument builders and OEM engineers who need a rigid, easy-to-machine platform for mounting transformers, sockets, controls and circuit boards.

The chassis is spot welded for heavy-duty construction and is formed from 0.051" aluminum (0.05 in (1 mm) in the series table) in a natural aluminum finish. Material is listed as aluminum and the part is RoHS and REACH compliant.

Per the series table the 1444-17156 measures 17.00 in (432 mm) wide, 15.00 in (381 mm) deep and 6.00 in (152 mm) high. The drawing gives an inner box width of 378.41 mm [14.90 in], inner box length of 429.21 mm [16.90 in] and inner box height of 149.81 mm [5.90 in]. The same footprint and 1434-1715 bottom plate are used by the lower 1444-17154 (4 in high).

The bottom plate (1434-1715) is optional and sold separately; optional bottom plates are punched with 4 holes of 3/16 in diameter. Bottom plate hardware is not provided: order part 1421J6, a package of 6 plated 6-32 x 1/4 in self-tapping cover screws. Note that the 1451 Series steel chassis covers are not compatible with this series.

The enclosure can be factory modified (milling, drilling, printing), and solid models are available in STEP or IGES format for layout work before you cut metal.
